Worship Services

We Invite You To Worship At St. Andrew’s

Sunday worship is the heartbeat of our parish family. Episcopalians are not defined by rigid sets of beliefs, but by common worship and common prayer – diverse people coming together as members of one body to join in the worship of God.  Every Sunday sees three celebrations of the Eucharist – each different in content and style. We take an “umbrella approach” to worship – recognizing that one size does not fit all. We invite you to try our different services, and discover which speaks to your own unique situation and needs. While we celebrate three Eucharists every Sunday, there are many opportunities for fellowship and service incorporating and uniting worshipers from all services.

Sunday 8 a.m.

Our Sunday 8 a.m. Eucharist gives an opportunity to worship at the very start of the day using The Episcopal Church’s “Rite I” liturgy – worshiping God using the beauty of traditional, Elizabethan English. This worship lasts around 50 minutes, with a short sermon but no music, and is followed by breakfast, for those who wish. Our regular 8 a.m. worshipers enjoy a strong sense of community and are active parish participants.

Sunday 10:00 a.m.

Our principal weekly Eucharist is celebrated every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and lasts around 75 minutes. Our church comes alive with all kinds of different and diverse people – children, teens, students, young families, singles, retired couples, and the elderly. During this time our nursery  is open, and there are classes for children ages 3 through 6th grade. Music is led by organ and our popular choir, offering a range of musical styles and hymns. We use a range of worship styles – from Solemn Eucharists with incense and bells, to special Family Eucharists, and, of course, our annual Blessing of The Animals. There are numerous opportunities to participate in this worship service, and we are especially eager to encourage young people’s involvement in our liturgy.

Sunday 5 p.m.

We encourage those looking for something a little different to try our  Sunday 5 p.m. Casual Worship Service. This is a chance to hear contemporary praise music, led by our worship band. A typical Sunday evening sees a wide and diverse group of worshipers – old and young; long-term parishioners and those new to this family.

Evensong

On the first Sunday of the month, the adult choir sings Choral Evensong in lieu of the 5:00 p.m. Eucharist. There is no sermon, but occasionally guest clergy come to chant the service. Evensong runs from October to May, except in December, when it is replaced by the service of Lessons and Carols.

We believe Church is not confined to Sundays. At the end of every Eucharist we are sent forth into the world to love and serve God’s people in word and deed. Our worship of God continues ceaselessly outside of these walls.
