St. Andrew’s Day Celebration
November 30 is the feast day of Saint Andrew, our patron saint, and the patron saint of Scotland. We will celebrate this year with a service of Holy Eucharist at 7 p.m. The Community Café will serve a Scottish dinner in Canterbury Hall from 5 – 7 p.m. If you plan to attend the dinner, please r.s.v.p. at https://bit.ly/SaintAndrewsDay to help us determine how many meals to prepare.

Adult Forum: Voices of Advent

Bring your donation of a new, unwrapped toy to church with you on December 3. The children and youth will help us bring the toys to the altar to be blessed during the 10 a.m. service. This is a long-standing tradition at St. Andrew’s. Thank you to Greg and Duncan Loviscky who take all of the toys to then be delivered. The Book Group will not meet in November to avoid conflicts with Thanksgiving travel and celebrations. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, December 5 when we will discuss Barbara Kingsolver's Demon Copperhead. On Wednesday evenings during Advent, we will have a Taizé service in the church. Take a break from the busyness of the holiday and join us in 45 minutes of quiet reflection. Taizé is a quiet, meditative service of music, silence, brief readings, and prayer, which calms body, mind, and spirit.

Friday Films presents the holiday classic, The Polar Express. In this animated film, a young boy, lying awake one Christmas Eve, is welcomed aboard a magical train to the North Pole, the Polar Express. The movie is based on a Caldecott Medal-winning book by Chris Van Allsburg. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with pizza and other refreshments. St. Andrew’s annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will be held on Sunday, December 17, at 5 p.m. It is patterned after the Christmas Eve service held in King's College Chapel. The Festival was introduced in 1918 to bring a more imaginative approach to worship. First broadcast in 1928, it is now broadcast to millions of people around the world. The flute choir Toot-in-Common, founded by St. Andrew’s Judy Moore, will give a free one-hour holiday concert on Monday, December 18 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal. Toot-in-Common features seasonal and modern repertoire arranged for Piccolo, C Flute, Alto Flute, Bass Flute, and Contra Bass Flute. Free-will offerings are welcome.
