Our speaker this Sunday, October 1, will be Phil Jenkins on the topic “The Nine Laws of Liturgy.” Last fall and spring, during education hour we watched the Great Courses video series, The World’s Greatest Churches. What all these churches have in common is that, in very different ways, they were theaters for liturgy. But what exactly is liturgy, and why is it so central to Christian life and practice? This presentation suggests some themes common to all such expressions of Christian faith, across the spectrum of churches, denominations, and traditions.
