Compassionate Life

January 18, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am

Women of all ages from the parish (friends are welcome, too!) are invited to join a wonderful group of caring and compassionate Christian women from St. Andrew’s every first and third Thursday of each month. We share in conversation and community, study and reflection, prayer and… coffee! We also put our compassion into action as the “hands and feet of Christ” when an opportunity arises to serve our brothers and sisters near and far.

For our meeting on January 18, please read the first two chapters in the book entitled Barking to the Choir: The Power of Radical Kinship by Gregory Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries and Jesuit priest. If you read his book Tattoos on the Heart, you’ll want to read this next book. From Amazon.com, “In a moving example of unconditional love in difficult times, the Jesuit priest and bestselling author of Tattoos on the Heart, Gregory Boyle, shares what three decades of working with gang members in Los Angeles has taught him about faith, compassion, and the enduring power of kinship…

This book is guaranteed to shake up our ideas about God and about people with a glimpse at a world defined by more compassion and fewer barriers. Gently and humorously, Barking to the Choir invites us to find kinship with one another and re-convinces us all of our own goodness.” Join us on Thursday, January 18. Contact Darlene Nordoff for more information.
