Christian Education Conversation

There’s no perfect model for Christian Education/Formation. This time of transition presents an opportunity to explore our options. We want to have some discussion about the relative merits of four basic models of organization and how they might be best adapted to serve the needs of our parish.

•  Sunday morning on it’s own-A Sunday morning education hour, separate from worship services. This is the model we have now. Currently it is between the morning services, so children, youth, and adults have class at the same time.
•  Sunday morning during worship-Children’s Church School during the first half of the worship service. This is what we had before the current model. Children entered church to join their families at the Peace. It requires a different time for adult education.
•  Sunday, not in the morning-An education hour either Sunday afternoon or evening. This could be in conjunction with our 5:00 service, either before or after. All ages could have class at the same time.
•  Never on a Sunday-An education hour on a completely different day of the week. We would have to figure out what day will work, what time, other details like do we have a meal in conjunction with education hour.
