The Book Club’s selection for April is American journalist Jessica Bruder’s 2017 nonfiction work Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century.
Nomadland chronicles the recent surge of older Americans left financially destitute as a result of the Great Recession of 2008 who have adopted a transient lifestyle and travel the United States living in campers and trucks searching for seasonal work in order to get by. Nomadland has recently been made into a 2020 Golden Globe award winning movie starring Frances McDormand.
