Pope Francis: A Man of His Word

This 2018 documentary, produced, co-written and directed by Wim Wenders, focuses on the life and goals of Pope Francis, the 266th and current Pope. The project originated when the Vatican sent Wenders a letter asking him to lead a project about Pope Francis. Wenders shot the interview sessions with Francis, as well as the re-enactments and everything around the city of Assisi, but much of the rest of the film was stock footage from TV stations and the Vatican archives.
Pope Francis – A Man of His Word is intended to be a personal journey with Pope Francis, rather than a biographical documentary about him. The pope’s ideas and his message are central to this documentary, which sets out to present his work of reform and his answers to today’s global questions.
We will gather at 6:30 pm for pizza and snacks, and the film will begin at 7:00 pm. A discussion will follow for those who wish to stay.
