This Sunday,’s Education Hour will be a presentation on Homeboy Ministries and the Rev. Gregory J. Boyle.
In 1986 Father Gregory Boyle became pastor of the Delores Mission Church in east LA. It is the city’s poorest parish divided by rival gangs. Father Boyle has buried 220 young people killed by gang violence.
Homeboy Industries provides hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community. Over 30,000 gang members have been through Homeboy. It is the largest and most successful program on the planet.
We will look at this remarkable ministry and Father Greg’s perspective on scripture. The program will include a podcast interview with Fr. Boyle, and a discussion led by Pam Ferguson, Dale Gericke, and Kathy Hickner.
