In March, St. Andrew’s Book Group will read and discuss West With Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge. The book is a historical novel set in 1938 as the Depression lingers and as Hitler is threatening Europe. It tells about two giraffes on their way to the San Diego Zoo where they will be the zoo’s first giraffes. After being stranded in New York during a hurricane, the giraffes begin their twelve-day cross country road trip to San Diego. From city to city, reporters follow their journey as they bring joy to all who behold them at this difficult time of US history.
West With Giraffes is also the Centre County Reads 2025 book of the year.
