Youth Programs

Youth Programs

Our Journey Youth classes for high schoolers and middle schoolers meet after Eucharist each Sunday, September through May. Our youth also gather for lunch or dinner on Sunday afternoons or evenings twice a month during the school year. After a shared meal, they engage in various social activities, outreach projects, and spiritual experiences together.

Middle School

Jesus’ commandments to love God and love one another guide the leaders and youth in this program.   Our goals are: (a) to establish and maintain friendships; (b) to establish the church as a safe place; (c) to celebrate and assist in youth transitions; (d) to explore the mystery of our faith heritage; (e) and to establish experience in the strength of community and liturgy.

High School

Our ninth, tenth and eleventh graders are invited to participate in a new program this year! Confirm not Conform (CnC) is a youth confirmation program that exposes youth to a wide range of topics, including Scripture, sacraments, creeds, heresy, prayer, other religions, and serving others, and asks them to think through what they believe and why. Even if a youth does not think he/she is ready for confirmation at this time, he/she will still benefit from participating in the program. Confirm not Conform is also a philosophy; it emphasizes finding one’s own voice rather than simply conforming to an external standard. It is a program that respects the work youth do as they explore their faith. It trusts that when people put in the effort to articulate what they believe and why, they will make good choices about their next step in faith. The entire church grows in faith by participating in Confirm not Conform, as mentors, parents, leaders, clergy, vestry or supportive onlookers who all make the commitment to support participants in the program in their life in Christ.

Questions about our youth programs are welcomed by our Director of Children and Youth: Newcomers are always welcome.
