The members selected for our January meeting If the Oceans Were Ink: An Unlikely Friendship and a Journey to the Heart of the Quran, by Carla Power. This 2015 memoir was a finalist for the Pulitzer Price and the National Book Award. It was praised by Fareed Zakaria as “intelligent, compassionate, and revealing.” Journalist Power tells how she and a Muslim friend, Sheikh Mohammad Akram Nadwi, spent a year exploring the Quran and Islam.
