Reverend Ernst Toller of the First Reformed church in Snowbridge, New York is writing down his thoughts in a journal for a year, after which he intends to destroy it. Follow his crisis of faith as he spirals out of control as he faces dwindling church attendance under his leadership, guilt over the death of his son, and a soul-shaking encounter with an unstable environmental activist and his pregnant wife. Writer-director Paul Schrader, known for Taxi Driver, brings us this incredible film that critics say he was ‘put on this planet to make’ and ‘this drama can almost be viewed as a companion piece to that classic.’ We hope you join us for this free film.
