Brother Sun, Sister Moon

What are parents to do when their kid turns his back on the privilege, wealth and opportunities they have worked hard to provide?

Francesco, son of a wealthy textile merchant, returns from war a very changed man. He is tormented nightly by visions of his past when he was a spoiled, boisterous, arrogant youth, and instead finds God in poverty, chastity and obedience. However, to the consternation of his parents, he spends most of his time surrounded by nature, flowers, trees, animals and poetry as he becomes more and more reluctant to resume his prior lifestyle. This Zefferelli film tells the tale of a wild youth who brought the world of pomp and power to its knees.
